Week – 24.11.23

Another great week of learning in school!

We are extremely proud of how our children continue to embrace the opportunities available within school.  This week children have continued to explore a range of sources to find out more about life in the past.  Within KS1 the children have handled artefacts, looked at a range of sources and even experienced life as a Victorian child.  Within KS2 children have explored how our country has changed over time, looking at key changes and developments which impact on the way we live today. Our learning continues to be shared via our school website, Twitter and Facebook pages.  the Facebook pages to enable you to share in your children’s successes.

As we prepare for the end of term, we would like to draw attention to the many events we have planned in school. These can be found on the school calendar and website.  As in previous years, all children will have the chance to join us for Christmas dinner. Normal dinners will resume on Friday 8th December. If you would like your child to join us please book the meal through the app by the 27th November. Please note that meal choices will be reduced between Monday 4th December and Thursday 7th to help us facilitate our Christmas Dinners.

Tameside council have once again offered to provide support to families in receipt if benefit related school meals over the Christmas break.  This will be in the form of a Morrisons voucher.  We are aware that many more families are eligible than those currently receiving this support.  Please check your entitlement here School Meals (tameside.gov.uk) and inform school if you feel you are eligible.

Over the last week, our Y1 and 3 pupils have had the opportunity to further their learning through our personal development offer.  Our Year 1 pupils have loved exploring our local area to find out what life was like in the past, Whilst our Y3 children loved viewing their work on display in the new Arriva gallery and their time in the Science and Industry Museum.  We would like to extend our thanks to all those that offered their time to facilitate these visits.  We are currently exploring opportunities for other year groups.

Finally, we would like to remind families that the school car park should not be used at any time.  We have noticed an increase in people driving through the pedestrian entrance before and after school.  Please note this access can only be used after 5pm.  Likewise, it is essential that families refrain from parking on the zigzag lines and double lines in the Surestart car park.  We need to maintain emergency access to the site at all times.

Wishing you an enjoyable and relaxing weekend

Mrs Claire Silk

IMPORTANT – Online Safety

Whatever the age of your child they will receive good online safety education in school, from early years through to college. But as parents and carers we want so support you in providing information about the risks and issues our children may face online.

We have obtained resources from Alan Mackenzie who specialises in the ever-changing and evolving area of online safety.

This week the focus is on Social Media.
