Class Shout Out!
Well done to our PAD children who have set up their own business making badges. The children have carried out their own research, designed and costed their products. They have already raised over £40 and will be continuing to sell these on Fridays for 75p. They have also inspired others to set up their own businesses.
Today, marks World Mental Health Day, an important reminder of the importance of mental wellbeing for all. At school, we are committed to nurturing not just academic growth, but emotional resilience too. One of the tools we use to support this the Zones of Regulation framework. It helps children recognize and manage their emotions by categorizing them into four color-coded zones:
???? Blue Zone – sad, tired, bored
???? Green Zone – calm, happy, focused
???? Yellow Zone – anxious, excited, frustrated
???? Red Zone – angry, out of control
Understanding these zones helps children to develop strategies to regulate their feelings and behaviors. All staff have been trained in this programme to enable them to support our pupils and families.
On this World Mental Health Day, we would like to encourage all families to have open conversations at home about emotions and mental wellbeing. If you or your child ever feel overwhelmed or unsure, please know that you are not alone. Our team are available to support you. Together, we can create a safe, supportive environment where every child feels seen, heard, and valued.
Within our lessons, we have been delving into the past as part of our history learning. Our younger children have loved exploring the different sources and looking at how things have changed! Whilst our older pupils have been exploring the concept of power and the impact of events from the past. Children across school have been able to share this learning with confidence and enthusiasm, demonstrating their extensive knowledge and understanding. We are currently creating a range of quizzes for them to share their learning at home too! We are extremely grateful to our families who have supported their child’s learning and will be providing further opportunities to consolidate learning over half term.
On Wednesday, our Flowery Friends team met to plan their next event, the Spooky Soiree! We are extremely grateful to the parents and staff who attend these events but are always on the look out for more volunteers. It’s a great way to make new friends and make a difference to our school community. Tickets for this event are now on sale. If you're new to the school and you want to purchase tickets for the event, we sell tickets through the ticketing platform Pembee. Here's how to do it: Go on Pembee: https://flowery-field-ptfa.pembee.app/ Click Register in the top right hand corner Complete your details, click register and remember your password. You are then able to select tickets for our upcoming events.
Finally, as you are aware, last week we had the pleasure of welcoming the Book Bus into school. Enthusiastic, polite and engaged, were just some of the words used to describe our pupils. They have asked me to pass on the following message:
We just wanted to write a big thank you to all the parents, teachers and most importantly children of Flowery Field for making The Book Bus such a fantastic experience! It was so lovely to see the enthusiasm and engagement of all the children and the genuine interest each, and everyone had in books. We had fantastic conversations about all thing's books including favourite authors, book series and even getting chance to share a story with a couple of the classes. All the children demonstrated perfect manners whilst taking care of our books on the bus. It is amazing to see such passion that all your children share and the genuine love for reading at your school! From your interactions and engagements, the school has raised an incredible £600 to go towards class libraries.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION - ONLINE SAFETY
Whatever the age of your child they will receive good online safety education in school, from early years through to college. But as parents and carers you need to know about and keep up with the risks and issues our children may face online. Importantly, we also need to know where to go for extra support. Over the next few weeks we will be sharing some online training for our parents/carers. Click on the link to find out more: 1 - Parents - Introduction on Vimeo
