Thank you for all your support with our world book day events, we were once again overwhelmed by the enthusiasm shown by our community. Throughout the day, children participated in a range of activities and loved sharing their books with their friends. Within KS2, the children joined the BBC’s big read, taking part in an online lesson to explore different genres.
With the money raised from the event and the after-school book sale, we have over £200 to spend on new books. Our Y4 and 5 children have been busy writing wish lists! We can’t wait to get our new books delivered!
We know this is a very busy time for our faith communities as our Christian families prepare for Easter and our Muslim families prepare for the month of Ramadan. We know that many families will be marking this time of year through prayer, fasting, reflection, charity & community. We are looking forward to marking Ramadan by promoting ‘acts of kindness’ within school and our local community. During this month, some of our older pupils choose to fast, school have allocated a special place where children can rest over the lunchtime period. Please can we ask families to inform school if their child will be participating.
Our Flowery Friends team have lots of events planned over the coming months. Our next event is our Easter Egg Bingo which takes place on the 27th March. This is a chance for families to come together to win lots of chocolate prizes. Please note all children attending the event will leave with a prize. After half term, we will also be holding our Eid celebration. Following the success of last year’s event, we have expanded capacity to ensure more families can get involved. Our team has lots of things planned, including new inflatables, craft events, party games and of course lots of delicious food! The event takes place on Wednesday 17th April and tickets go on sale on Monday 25th March. Both events sold out last year so we would recommend purchasing tickets early.
Next Friday, our School Council have asked if children can add something red to their school uniform to mark Red Nose Day. We will be having a cake and used book sale stall after school. All donations collected throughout the day and from our after school sale will go to this year’s Red Nose Appeal.
Finally, can we remind all families to check the announcements in the app, as often important messages are sent out. It is vital that you update your contact details in the app too.

Punctuality and Absence
School starts at 8 45 and closes at 3 15. Please can we ask families to ensure children arrive on time as lateness disrupts learning and results in children missing valuable learning opportunities.
Likewise, if your child is going to be absent from school, please ring and provide a reason for their absence prior to the start of the school day. Parents are able to leave a message on our automated system.
Older Children
Following a few incidents over the last couple of weeks, please can we ask families with older children to remind them that they are unable to cut through our school playground. We understand that some older pupils need to collect siblings. Please could you remind them of our expectations to enable our school grounds to be safe for everyone. Upcoming Events: S
